TeensMakeBank ("we," "our," or "us") operates the TeensMakeBank mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App and related services.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Note for Parents and Guardians: TeensMakeBank is designed for users aged 13 and older. We require verifiable parental or guardian consent before activating any account held by a user under 18. If you believe your child has registered without your consent, please contact us immediately at teensmakebankservice@gmail.com.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration: Full name, email address, phone number, home address, age, and role (teen or customer).
- Teen accounts: Parent or guardian name, parent/guardian email address, and a digitally signed parental consent waiver (including signature image data and timestamp).
- Profile: Profile photo (optional).
- Job postings: Job description, service address, and photos you upload to describe or verify a job.
- Messages: Content of chat messages sent through the App between users or with our support team.
- Payment information: We do not store full credit or debit card numbers. Payment details are handled securely by our payment processor, Stripe (see Section 5).
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your approximate or precise location to show nearby jobs and calculate job distances. We only access location when you are using the App ("foreground" access).
- Device information: Push notification token, device type, and operating system version for sending job and message notifications.
- Usage data: App activity such as jobs viewed, accepted, or completed, and streak/reward activity.
- IP address: Collected at the time a parental consent waiver is signed, for legal record-keeping purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account.
- Match teens with local job opportunities posted by customers.
- Process payments and issue earnings to teens through Stripe.
- Send push notifications about new messages, job updates, and payment status.
- Verify parental consent for teen users and maintain signed waiver records.
- Display job locations on an in-app map.
- Calculate job distances using your location.
- Enforce our platform rules, resolve disputes, and maintain safety.
- Communicate with you about your account, support requests, and platform updates.
- Track teen incentives, badges, streaks, and earnings for the rewards system.
- Improve the App and diagnose technical issues.
3. Children's Privacy (Under 18)
TeensMakeBank is designed for users aged 13–19. We take the privacy of minors seriously.
- Parental consent is required for all users under 18 before their account becomes active. A parent or guardian must sign a digital consent waiver in the App.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will immediately deactivate and delete their account.
- Parents or guardians may request to review, correct, or delete their teen's personal information by contacting us at teensmakebankservice@gmail.com.
- Teens' home addresses are stored for distance calculations and are never displayed publicly.
- Customer job addresses are visible to teens searching for work in their area, limited to general proximity.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
Between Users (within the App)
- A teen's first name and profile photo (if set) are visible to customers whose jobs they accept.
- A customer's first name and job details are visible to teens browsing available jobs.
- Full addresses are only disclosed after a job is accepted, not during browsing.
With Service Providers
- Stripe: For payment processing, teen payouts, and coupon management. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- Neon (PostgreSQL hosting): For secure database storage of your account and job information.
- Expo / Apple Push Notification Service: For delivering push notifications to your device.
- Nominatim / OpenStreetMap: For server-side address geocoding to place accurate job pins on the map. Only the address string is sent — no identifying user information.
For Legal Reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of TeensMakeBank, our users, or the public.
5. Payments and Financial Data
All payment processing is handled by Stripe. TeensMakeBank never stores your full card number, CVV, or bank account details on our servers. When you pay for a job or a teen receives a payout, that transaction flows through Stripe's secure infrastructure.
Job payments are held in escrow until the customer approves the completed work. Teens receive 77% of the job price; the platform retains 23% to operate the service. Tips go 100% to the teen. Cancellation fees apply based on job status at the time of cancellation.
6. Photos and Media
Teens are required to upload photos to verify job completion. Customers may also upload photos when posting jobs. These photos are:
- Stored securely on our servers.
- Shared with the relevant customer or teen for the specific job.
- Accessible to platform administrators for dispute resolution.
- Not shared publicly or used for advertising.
7. Location Data
We request foreground location access to show jobs near you and calculate distances. We do not access your location in the background. Your precise coordinates are never displayed to other users — only approximate distance from a job address is shown.
Your home address (entered at signup) is geocoded to coordinates for distance calculations. The raw address is stored in your account and is not publicly visible.
8. Push Notifications
If you grant notification permission, we send alerts for new messages, job acceptances, payment requests, and platform updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings app.
9. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account through the App, your profile data is removed within 30 days. Payment records and parental consent waivers are retained for legal and financial compliance purposes (typically 7 years).
- Messages: Chat history is retained for dispute resolution and safety purposes.
10. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: You can view and update your profile information in the App at any time.
- Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account from the Profile tab in the App. This removes your personal data subject to legal retention requirements.
- Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in your device Settings. Some features (distance-based job browsing, map view) will not work without it.
- Notifications: You can opt out of push notifications in your device Settings.
- Data requests: To request a copy of your data or ask questions about what we hold, email us at teensmakebankservice@gmail.com.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), bcrypt password hashing, and scoped API access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure — if you have a security concern, contact us immediately.
12. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their policies.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
